Curious MINDS' Launch and Journey

Happy New Year! We are so excited to be launching Curious MINDS! It has been a goal of ours to launch a website with free resources for high school students for quite some time. We are beyond happy to have finally started this organization. We wanted to tell our users about how Curious MINDS came to be!

The construction of Curious MINDS began during our Freshman year art class at LaGuardia High School. We talked about creating a website that would assist high school students with math. Days later, we were sitting in the stands of our high school gym during a basketball game and continued talking about our idea. We decided to quickly jot down some notes on Olivia's phone about what we wanted to include on our website. Algebra 1...... Geometry...... Algebra 2....... we listed in bullet points. In all honesty, we abandoned the idea after we left those stands.

However, during the pandemic, Vic realized that access to free STEM resources was limited. Many high school students quickly began struggling with their classes because they no longer had access to the same resources as they did with in-person learning. In November, Vic texted Olivia and told her that we had to turn this idea into reality. After this large gap of time had passed, we decided it was important to incorporate all aspects of STEM into our website.

So the work on our website began. We had zoom calls almost daily and talked about what exactly we wanted this organization to be and who the target audience was. We wanted to provide resources in math and science as we are so very passionate about them and adore the community. We created a spreadsheet and wrote down everything we needed to do before we launched our organization. Over the duration of the next month, we did a lot of work on Zoom with each other. We are so proud of where we are and can't wait to see what the future of Curious MINDS looks like.
